Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using any Bunorden service ("the Services"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("the Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Services.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Services. By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your password and encryption keys. Bunorden cannot recover your data or reset your password — your password is the sole means of deriving your encryption key, and we never see or store it.

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

Important: If you lose your password, your encrypted data becomes permanently inaccessible. This is a feature of end-to-end encryption, not a bug. We strongly recommend storing your password in a secure location.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Services for any of the following:

• Any illegal activity or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international law.
• Distributing malware, ransomware, viruses, or any other harmful code.
• Harassing, abusing, threatening, or harming any other person or group.
• Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Bunorden systems without explicit written authorization.
• Using the Services to infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
• Sending unsolicited communications, spam, or engaging in phishing.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you before taking action, except in cases where immediate action is necessary to protect our systems or other users.

4. Encryption & Your Data

Bunorden uses end-to-end encryption. You retain full ownership of all data you create, upload, or store through the Services ("Your Data"). We claim no ownership over Your Data.

By using the Services, you grant us a limited license to store and process Your Data solely as necessary to provide the Services to you. This license ends when you delete Your Data or your account.

5. Intellectual Property

The Bunorden name, logo, and branding are trademarks of Bunorden. The source code for Bunorden applications is made available under the MIT License. You are free to use, modify, and distribute our open-source code in accordance with that license.

Content you create and store within the Services remains your intellectual property.

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Services available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Services may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, or circumstances beyond our control.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time. For material changes, we will provide reasonable advance notice.

7. Limitation of Liability

The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Bunorden and its contributors disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

Bunorden shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Services. This includes, but is not limited to, data loss resulting from lost passwords — because your encryption keys are derived from your password and never stored on our servers, we are technically incapable of recovering your data.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Bunorden and its contributors from any claims, damages, liabilities, or expenses arising from your use of the Services or your violation of these Terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to access the Services ceases immediately.

Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including limitations of liability, indemnification, and intellectual property provisions — shall survive.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you via email. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong SAR, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Hong Kong SAR.
